About the firm

A small firm, deliberately

We take on a limited number of engagements each year, so the people you meet in the first meeting are the people who do the work.

Our story

Founded on one frustration

i7-Advisory started because two of us kept being brought in to repair strategies that had already been signed off by much larger firms. The analysis was usually fine. The problem was that nobody had been willing to say the difficult part out loud.

So we built the firm around a single constraint: take on fewer engagements, staff them with senior people, and be direct enough to be genuinely useful. That has not changed since 2014.

Today we work with founder-led businesses, private equity portfolio companies, and established firms going through a change they have not been through before.

How we operate

Four principles we do not bend

They cost us work occasionally. We have kept them anyway.

Fewer clients, more attention

We cap the number of live engagements. It costs us revenue, and it is the main reason the work is good.

Evidence before opinion

Every recommendation traces back to something we measured, observed or tested. Nothing rests on pattern-matching alone.

Your team in the room

We work alongside your people rather than around them. Nothing is handed over as a surprise at the end.

Finite by design

Engagements have an end date agreed at the start. If we are still there a year later, something has gone wrong.

The team

The people you will actually work with

No account managers, and no handover to a junior team once the contract is signed.
